This year's beneficiaries

Proud to Run donates 100% of proceeds from each year’s race to Chicago-area non-profit organizations who work to make the LGBTQ+ healthier, safer, and stronger.

Proud to Run has raised $700,000 for its beneficiaries in the past 40 years.

This year we have selected two organizations as our beneficiaries from donations like yours. Find out a little bit more about the Brave Space Alliance and the Youth Empowerment Performance Project (YEPP) below!

the brave space alliance

Brave Space Alliance is the first Black-led, trans-led LGBTQ+ Center located on the South Side of Chicago, dedicated to creating and providing affirming, culturally competent, for-us by-us resources, programming, and services for LGBTQ+ individuals on the South and West sides of the city. We strive to empower, embolden, and educate each other through mutual aid, knowledge-sharing, and the creation of community-sourced resources as we build toward the liberation of all oppressed peoples.

Youth empowerment Performance project

YEPP strives to create a brave environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI+) youth experiencing homelessness to explore their history, investigate new ways to address their struggles and to celebrate their strengths through personal, leadership and community development programming that incorporate different art-expression forms.
